Local Community Involvement

On Memorial Day and Veterans Day, millions of red crepe paper poppies—all handmade by veterans as part of their therapeutic rehabilitation—are distributed across the country in exchange for donations that go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in our communities.
The American Legion Auxiliary supports this foundation and makes a donation each year to this great cause.
Girls State educates our youth in the duties, privileges and responsibilities of American citizenship and government.
The Auxiliary purchases supplies and donates them to The Silver Center, and The Silver Needlers there makes wheelchair/walker bags, lap blankets, and caps for Veterans at various nursing homes.
H. U. Wood Unit 245 Auxiliary donates money and stuffed animals to the Seguin Police Department and local hospitals for children that are going through tough times and may need a little something extra to help get them through their situation.
